Pilates FAQs

  • Absolutely! Everyone starts somewhere, and we welcome beginners. We recommend booking a private introductory session first so we can show you how to use the equipment and introduce basic exercises. This will help you feel confident and get the most out of your Pilates classes. You can book online or give us a call and we can talk you through it and find a time that suits

  • Each class is structured around a series of low-impact exercises designed to improve strength, flexibility, and posture. Our Mums and Bubs and Pregnancy Pilates classes include modifications to support postnatal recovery or pregnancy, with a focus on pelvic floor, core, and overall body health. We work with reformers and other Pilates equipment to enhance your experience.

  • Comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for easy movement is best. Think leggings, fitted tops, and layers you can remove if needed. We also recommend grip socks to ensure stability on the reformer and mat. If you dont have these already you can purchase them at the studio

  • Just yourself! Oh and a towel and water bottle. We provide all the necessary equipment, including mats and reformers. If you’re attending a Mums and Bubs class, feel free to bring any essentials for your baby (but we also have about 500 flashy toys!)

  • For our Clinical Pilates classes, an initial assessment is essential as these are tailored programs designed specifically for your needs.

For our Mini and me, Bumps and Core and Pilates Flo classes, we strongly encourage booking an Initial Pregnancy/Pelvic Floor/Postnatal or Exercise Assessment before attending to ensure the best experience, though it is not strictly required.

If you're new to Pilates or recovering from an injury, we recommend starting with a private introductory session to familiarize yourself with the equipment and movements. However, this is optional for our general Pilates classes.

  • Only our Clinical Pilates classes are eligible for private health insurance claims. These classes require an initial assessment before you can claim.

To check your level of cover, use code 500 or 102 for the initial assessment and 560 or 202 for the classes. We strongly recommend confirming with your health insurer for specific details about your policy and coverage.

  • We recommend arriving at least 5-10 minutes early. This gives you time to settle in, meet your instructor, and discuss any special considerations before the class begins.

  • Yes, Pilates is highly beneficial during pregnancy, helping to strengthen your pelvic floor, core, and overall body. Our Bumps and Core classes are specifically designed to support your body through every stage of pregnancy. We do recommend an initial pregnancy assessment prior to joining the classes to ensure you get the most out of them!

  • Yes, babies of all ages are welcome at our classes! For mobile babies, we kindly ask that they be safely contained (e.g., in a pram or on mumma/dadda) to ensure everyone's safety. Our Mini and Me class is specifically designed for you and your little one to enjoy together while connecting with other parents. If those times don’t suit, or you’re participating in our Group Physio program, your baby is still more than welcome to join!

  • Definitely! Pilates is a fantastic way to support postpartum recovery, focusing on rebuilding core strength, pelvic floor health, and improving overall mobility. Our Mini and Me classes are specifically tailored to help new parents safely regain strength and fitness after childbirth.

  • Clinical Pilates is a personalized 8 week program with a tailored program based on an initial assessment, ideal for rehab or specific goals. It is run by our physiotherapists and exercise physiologists and claimable on private health. It is an 8 week commitment

Our reformer classes (mini and me, bumps and core and pilates flo) are group-based classes, focused more on general fitness and strength, with of corse a focus on the pelvic floor and core, and don’t require an assessment (although we do strongly encourage one!). They are not claimable on private health insurance.

Which class is right for me?

  • Our Mini and Me class is perfect for new mums looking to work on general fitness while also focusing on postnatal recovery. This class incorporates exercises designed to rebuild core strength, improve posture, and support overall fitness—all while accommodating the needs of your body after childbirth. You’ll work on strengthening your pelvic floor, glutes, and core muscles, with the added bonus of being able to bring your baby along!

  • If you're worried about your pelvic floor and have specific postnatal goals, our Clinical Pilates class is perfect for you. After an initial one-on-one assessment with a physiotherapist, we’ll develop a personalized program tailored to your needs, focusing on pelvic floor recovery, core strength, and addressing any concerns like abdominal separation or pelvic pain. The program is completed in 8-week blocks, ensuring consistent progress with expert guidance. In the small group setting, you'll get individualized support while still enjoying the camaraderie of working alongside other mums on similar journeys.

  • Our Bumps and Core class is perfect for staying active throughout your pregnancy, all the way up to birth (or as long as you feel comfortable). This class focuses on safe, low-impact exercises that strengthen your pelvic floor, core, and glutes, helping to support your body as it changes during pregnancy. Every movement is tailored to ensure safety for both you and your baby, with modifications available as your pregnancy progresses. Whether you're a seasoned exerciser or just starting, this class will keep you strong, mobile, and prepared for labor and delivery.

  • If you’re managing prolpase, incontience, peri-menopausal or concerned about your pelvic floor and want to maintain an active lifestyle, our Bumps and Core class is ideal for you. This class is tailored to strengthen your pelvic floor, core, and glutes in a safe, supportive environment. It focuses on exercises that promote stability, strength, and overall fitness. Whether you're addressing pelvic floor concerns or aiming to improve core strength, this class is designed to help you feel confident, strong, and empowered.

  • If you're recovering from an injury or want to specifically focus on your pelvic floor, our Clinical Pilates class is an excellent choice. Led by a physiotherapist, this class is tailored to your individual needs, whether you're managing pelvic floor dysfunction, recovering from an injury, or working on specific rehabilitation goals. After an initial assessment, we’ll create a personalised program for you, focusing on strengthening the pelvic floor, core stability, and overall functional movement. The program is delivered in 8-week blocks and combines the benefits of a small group setting with individualised attention to help you recover safely and effectively.

  • If you're currently in pain, our Clinical Pilates class is a great option, but the first step would be an individual assessment with one of our physiotherapists. During this initial session, we’ll conduct a thorough assessment of your condition and provide hands-on treatment to address your pain. Based on this, we’ll design a personalised program tailored to your specific needs, focusing on pain relief, strengthening, and functional movement. After the assessment, you can join our Clinical Pilates classes, which are delivered in 8-week blocks and provide ongoing support in a small group setting, allowing you to safely work towards recovery under professional guidance.
