In most cases, no referral is needed to see a physiotherapist. You can book an appointment directly. However, if you are planning to claim through certain health insurance providers or require treatment related to a specific medical condition, a referral from your doctor may be beneficial or required.
-
During your first session, the physiotherapist will conduct a thorough assessment to understand your condition, including discussing your medical history, symptoms, and goals. They may perform physical tests to assess strength, flexibility, and range of motion. Based on these findings, you’ll receive a tailored treatment plan, which may include exercises, manual therapy, and education on managing symptoms at home.
-
The number of sessions needed varies depending on the condition, treatment goals, and how your body responds to therapy. Some conditions may require only a few sessions, while others benefit from a longer-term plan. Your physiotherapist will discuss a likely timeline after your initial assessment and adjust it as needed based on your progress.
